Durham Tees airport is situated just six miles from the centre of Darlington, north east England.
The airport started life in 1941 as an RAF base known as Middleton-St-George, the base later became an
RAF aerodrome. In 1964 the base was handed over for civil use and was designated the task of becoming the
commercial airport for the region. The airport had £1.4 million spent on it to make it suitable for commercial
passengers before it reopened in 1966. Today the airport sees approxiamtley 50,000 passengers pass through each year
and flies to more than 25 destinations.
