Getting there by Car / Taxi

Edinburgh Airport is located just 12km from the centre of Edinburgh. When travelling from Edinburgh, head along the A8 towards Glasgow. If travelling from the opposite side, follow the A8 towards Edinburgh. The airport is clearly signposted from the A8.

For passengers wishing to travel out of the airport by taxi there is a taxi rank by the coach park just outside the UK arrivals hall. For those who wish to book, Executive Onward Travel are the airport's official pre-booking taxi company. Journey time to the city centre is around 25 minutes and fares vary depending on distance. All drivers are professionally trained and there are a choice of vehicles available including people carriers, executive cars and coaches. Taxis from the airport can be booked in advance by contacting +44 (0)131 333 2255.

Getting there by Bus / Coach

There are several regular bus services between Edinburgh airport and the city centre. The bus stands can be found in the front of the terminal building outside the UK arrivals lounge. The number 100 bus is a regular shuttle which runs between the airport and the city (close to the bus and train stations and the high street.) This service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every ten minutes during peak hours and every half an hour off-peak. A less frequent bus service operated by Lothian buses runs between the Ocean Terminal just outside the city centre, through the city and to the airport. This service runs from early morning until late at night; more details can be found on the Lothian buses website. The information desk in the international arrivals hall also has access to bus timetables. For more information on planning your bus journey from Edinburgh airport, contact Traveline Scotland.

Getting there by Train

Edinburgh airport does not have its own train station, but the two main stations in Edinburgh are easily accessible as they are both on regular bus routes between them and the airport. Both Edinburgh Waverley and Edinburgh Haymarket stations operate services between Glasgow and other Scottish and English destinations, including a GNER stopping service to London King's Cross. For more details on train times and contact National Rail.
