Kirwall Airport offers scheduled services to the Scottish mainland and to Shetland as well as being the base for the original inter-island services operated by Loganair. Daily Royal Mail and newspaper flights, Fisheries Protection aircraft and the Northern Lighthouse Board helicopter also operate from here. 111,000 passengers a year use the airport to fly to 7 different destinations and its claim to fame is that it operates the world's shortest scheduled air service between Westray and Papa Westray which is less than two minutes.
