London City Airport is loacted just six miles from the City of London and has good tranport connections from both inside and outside the city. Discussions for an airport in the Docklands area first began in 1981 and the London City Airport was officailly opened in 1987. Today the airport transports 1.5 million passengers to over 25 destinations a year and is an important business transport link for the capital.
